Brigadier Jeff Little OBE Joins G3 Systems on retirement from the Army

Royston, Herts –Jeff Little has joined G3 Systems after a long, successful and varied career in the regular British Army spanning some 33 years. A military logistician by trade, he has seen active service during the Northern Ireland campaign, commanded his squadron on operations during the First Gulf War in 1990/91 and led his regiment during the hostage crisis in Bosnia in 1995. He has also served on tours of duty in Hong Kong with the Gurkha Transport Regiment (now the Queen's Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment), Gibraltar, the Balkans, Malta, Nepal, Turkey and the USA. His mission in industry will be to establish a brand new operating division within the G3 Systems management structure. This new entity will be known as Engineering Management Services (EMS) which will seek to open up new markets and new business opportunities for the Company. High on his list of priorities is the desire to penetrate the expanding UK resilience and security domain. Jeff has recently studied the relatively new science of 'emergency planning and disaster management' at Coventry University so he is well versed in the issues surrounding complex emergencies and large scale disasters. This work is closely linked to IAP's (G3 Systems parent company) contingency and disaster relief expertise. Jeff has recently been appointed to the chair of the Institute of Civil Defence and Disaster Studies (ICDDS). He is a member of the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), President of the Bagshot Concert Band, has recently completed an MBA with the Open University and has now been appointed as the Honorary Colonel of the Army's Catering Support Regiment based at Grantham.

Little's last appointment in the Services was as the Director of The Royal Logistic Corps based in Surrey. His Corps forms the backbone of deployed logistic support to Land Forces and equates to some 16% of the strength of the regular Army. Its skills range from supply and distribution through to pioneer support, from specialist transport to explosive ordnance disposal and from fuel supply to chefs. He coined the ethos of the 'fighting logistician, fighting logistics through' to highlight the changed situation on the modern asymmetric battlefield where there are no 'rear areas' and the threat is omni-directional and multi-facetted. His broad logistic knowledge will assist G3 Systems to understand the complex operating environment in which contemporary Land Forces are required to fight. His previous experience as the Director of the Defence Catering Group (now part of the Commodities Cluster) and as an Integrated Project Team leader at Abbey Wood will also broaden the Company's portfolio across its core business of Expeditionary Campaign Infrastructure (ECI) and specialist containerised solutions. Prior to leading his Corps, he counts his most enjoyable time as leading the Combat Support Vehicles Light IPT (now designated as the SUV IPT) and setting up the Defence Vehicle Dynamics (DVD) military motor show which has grown in size and shape every year since its move to the Millbrook Proving Grounds.

Outside of work, Jeff's interests include walking, military history, the fire service, short story writing, public speaking and teaching the game of Mah Jongg. He is married to Sally who is a training and development consultant based near Guildford. Jeff will operate from the G3 Systems head office in Royston.
