G3 Systems Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of IAP Worldwide Services, Inc., announces a pair
of contract wins that continue the company’s long-time support of the United Kingdom’s military
operations.
The first is a three-year research contract awarded by SEA Ltd. to G3 Consulting, an independent
arm of G3 Systems, on behalf of the Ministry of Defence (MOD) to study the potential uses of
renewable energy systems on the 21st century battlefield.
Under the second contract, G3 Systems is providing two mobile tent-style command and control
modules to the Headquarters 1st Armoured Division based in Germany.
‘Enhanced, more efficient battlefield support for our MOD partner is the overarching goal of
both of these important contracts,’ says G3 Systems Director and General Manager Peter Gleave.
G3 Consulting’s team, led by Dom Hargreaves, will work alongside Southampton University experts,
recognized leaders in alternative energy technology. In the contract’s first phase, researchers will
examine the MOD’s electrical power requirements on the battlefield and identify suitable energy
technologies with the potential for greater efficiency.
During phase two, Southampton researchers will develop an alternative energy model that
combines global weather data with relevant technologies to produce an optimum mix of solutions
to suit particular military campaigns, geography, and mission energy requirements. At the same
time, G3 Consulting will develop a number of alternative energy technology demonstrators to
verify the Southampton model, which will be tested by the MOD in austere environments, such as
Afghanistan.
Through the command and control module contract, G3 Systems will provide two “silver” level
headquarters modules, with delivery to Germany completed by the end of March 2009. The company’s
Germany based Field Service Engineering capability will then oversee onsite operations through a
two-year support and inspection contract.
‘This victory is significant for G3 Systems and represents a great deal of hard work by the
Business Development Teams,’ says Gleave. ‘There are a number of upcoming Staff Working Environment
opportunities on the horizon and this success places us in an excellent position to compete
aggressively for those.’
