G3 Systems were awarded a commendation
in the category of ‘Industry Green Investment Award’ at
the Lloyds TSB/EAST Awards held at the prestigious Liberal
Club in Westminster, London. G3 Systems entered their innovative eco-container,
known as ECOM (Ecological Containerized Module), which has
been developed over the last two years in-house at its integration
facility at Portland, Dorset. G3 Systems' promotion of solar
power, environmental impact studies and other green solutions
also was taken into consideration
ECOM was developed to provide living accommodation, office
space and ablution facilities in remote areas. The key focus
of the project was to reduce or negate the need for traditional
fuel supplies, providing a clean running and noiseless facility.
Utilizing solar panels for light and power and a modern solar
water heating system, ECOM can provide secure shelter for
two or more occupants wherever and whenever it is required.
With the correct management of power, G3 Systems' ECOM system
can run almost endlessly without the need for external power.
ECOM can be adapted to provide more power, by the addition
of further solar panels or the addition of a small wind turbine.
The internal set up can also be tailored to suit the customer,
whether it is for sleeping or working. Standard set up provides
all the needs required for two workers including an evaporative
cooler for environmental conditioning.
The EAST awards are run by The EAST Journal which covers
Environmental and Sustainable Technology (www.eastjournal.co.uk).The
awards were open to all, in both the private and public sectors.
This national event gave the opportunity for UK Environmental
leaders to show how their organizations are moving forward
with viable environmental and sustainable technology solutions.
Also, industry providers of product and services, showing
their environmental contribution in enabling their clients
to reduce the environmental impact of their businesses were
judged by a panel of industry leaders.
Manufacturing processes, product availability and performance,
in-house environmental auditing and management, research
and development in environmentally friendly products, innovation
and customer service were all judged to find the leaders
in the development and implementation of sustainable technology
solutions.
