G3 Systems awarded Deployable Working Dogs contract

Royston, Herts – G3 Systems has been awarded a contract by the UK Ministry of Defence Battlefield Infrastructure Integrated Project Team to supply a deployable kennel system for their working dogs, known as Military Working Dogs (MWD). These will soon be deployed as part of an urgent operational requirement to Iraq and Afghanistan.

The deployable infrastructure facility requirement consists of two types of unit: transport containers for tactical movement of MWD in theatre and a rear based housing using an ISO-based system.

The transport containers offer a significant advantage compared to the containers currently in service as they are collapsible for storage, allowing a space reduction of over 50%, whilst still allowing storage of ancillary items within the collapsed container, i.e. ratchet straps and doors. The system is also durable and light-weight due to the aluminium construction.

The ISO-based housing system features:

  • Fully compliant exercise area and sleeping areas.
  • Rugged construction, with sleeping area fully contained within an ISO drops container.
  • Flat-packable exercise area.
  • Rapid assembly/disassembly.
  • Self-contained HVAC system, capable of operation within full range of deployed conditions.
  • Electrical connectivity within container.
  • Capable of connection and operation from 240V power supply (UK & EU/ROW Standard).
  • Designed for easy cleaning, with minimal maintenance and under floor heating

It will be possible to transport the system using vehicles such as the 4T cargo vehicle and Landrover TUM /Snatch 1&2 over land and by air using the C130 Hercules, Puma HC1and Chinook CH47.

A range of carefully selected materials have been used in the design to ensure safety for both the dogs and operators. This also ensures the system is easy to clean and maintain.

G3 Systems, a wholly-owned subsidiary of IAP Worldwide Services, Inc., provides a range of field systems to the MOD and Government agencies, including mobile and static hospitals, temporary accommodation, kitchens, and hygiene systems.
